“All for Christ and His Kingdom”

School Board 2018-19

The purpose of the Pusch Ridge Christian Academy board is to assist the families of our school and the greater Tucson evangelical community in their God-ordained responsibility to raise their children in the fullness of Christian discipleship by providing a Biblical education with a classical curricula emphasis in Kindergarten through 12th grade. In pursuit of this purpose, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy does not seek to replace or duplicate the unique roles and responsibilities of the family or the church, but rather to partner covenantally with them, offering a challenging academic, college-preparatory courses of learning whereby the succeeding generations will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, character, will, and biblical worldview to meet the complex challenges of our ever-changing world.
To the PRCA Community,

It is a joy to return to serve as Board Chair for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. My wife, Bonnie, and I began praying for the creation of our school in the late 1990s, and joined with other families to make it a reality when PRCA opened in 2000. I was privileged to be the initial Board Chair and served in that role for the school’s first eight years. Bonnie and I committed ourselves to PRCA even though both of our boys were already in college – we simply felt God calling us to support an academically rigorous Christ-centered school for the greater Tucson Christian community. Through the years, we have continued that support both with our time and our treasure. The rewards have been great as we have witnessed the incredible success of our students as they have gone out into the world prepared with the knowledge of God’s truth in all areas of life.
It is a further joy to be serving along with Headmaster Allen Cooney. He brings a vision and energy to our school that is making a clear difference every day. There is a notable positive attitude on our campuses that reflects the unity of our board, our sponsoring church and our faculty. Never have we been so clear in our mission, which is further reflected in the revised and simplified mission statement that we recently adopted.
This year, the board, along with Headmaster Cooney, has been emphasizing a concentration on that which truly distinguishes us in educating our students: a fully integrated Christian worldview solidly rooted in a classical foundation. Our PRCA graduates will need wisdom as they go out into the world, and wisdom is not being taught in many Tucson schools. The world seems determined to reduce the influence of Christian morals and Biblical truths. At PRCA we see that only in fully embracing these truths do our graduates have the potential to be world changers for Christ.
The board is excited as we continue to work with Headmaster Cooney to strengthen our curricula and all areas of our school. We are thankful for our principals, Jason Clapero and Mandy Rhodes and appreciate their steadfast and strong leadership. We thank Christ for the opportunity to serve our covenantal community in preparing our students for the challenges they will face. On behalf of the PRCA Board, I would like to thank all of the families, faculty and staff who have worked with us in so many ways to contribute to what has been a terrific year for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy K-12.
May God continue to bless our school.
David Mehl, Board Chair

Our Mission Statement

"The mission of Pusch Ridge Christian Academy is to teach our students to become like Christ through a classical Christian education within a covenantal community."
A K-12 classical, Christian, covenantal school that partners with the Christian home and church. Rooted in the Christian intellectual tradition, we focus on the development of the whole child: body, mind, soul and spirit. Our graduates are a reflection of our vibrant culture as they are servant leaders who seek wisdom and to glorify God in every arena.
