Griffin McGrath ('07) Enjoys Others Come Alive in Christ & Live in Fullness

"...After experiencing trauma, Pusch Ridge was a sanctuary."

With gratitude, Griffin McGrath, PRCA 2007, reflected on the grace and caring he received at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy when he arrived in 2004, a fatherless child, after the sudden passing of his beloved Dad. "Every classroom setting was safe. I could come to school with my mind and heart. After experiencing trauma, Pusch Ridge was a sanctuary."

After graduation, Griffin attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri and enjoyed his love of playing baseball for the school. During this time, he heard God calling him to ministry, and after a back injury interrupted his baseball career, he committed himself to trust God to direct his steps.

Griffin married the love of his life, Bethany, while they were still in college and together they have ministered for the Lord. For the past seven years, Griffin has led Youth Ministries for Assemblies of God, working with over 200 churches in Arizona. Griffin says that his greatest love and joy is when he sees someone who is dead in their sin come alive in Christ and live in fullness. He is walking in the footsteps of his father, who was in ministry, and his mother, who was raised in a missionary family.

Griffin and Bethany have two beautiful sons, Myler and Wallace. Griffin recounted the heartbreaking pain that God allowed them to endure as they experienced six miscarriages before pregnancies seven and eight blessed them with their two sons. Reflecting on this grievous time, Griffin said, "God will give you things you can't handle, He has to handle them."

Griffin has only good memories of his alma mater. God is good all the time, all the time God is good, the community of the library, the environment to learn and question that Mr. Clapero, Mr. Peyton, Coach Lovett and Coach Brittain established. These things have contributed to the foundation of his life.

When reflecting on the PRCA Portrait of a Graduate attributes, he said this about being a Courageous Christian, "God gives us freedom to fail. The person who gets back up after they have failed, he is courageous. ‘For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again.’” Proverbs 24:16. Well done good and faithful servant.
