Q & A with Susan Wixon

How long have you been at PRCA? 
9 years as a teacher

Any interesting jobs/positions you have had prior to working here that have strongly influenced you as a person and/or in your role at PRCA?
I taught English and history at a Tucson public high school for 11 years before coming to PRCA.

Where did you grow up, and what is your educational background?
I grew up in San Diego, CA.  I have a B.S. in History and English for secondary education from Northern Arizona University.  I also have a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from NAU.  

Tell us about your family. 
I am married to Justin who is a pastor at Alive in Christ Church Lutheran.  We have five children: Kensi ('16 alum) who is married and lives in Tucson,  Kobe '18 alum) who is a student at NAU, and three are at PRCA Cal (class of '25, Caleb (class of '27) and Kalyssa (class of '32). 

What keeps you busy outside of school?
I have five kids....

How do you hope to make a difference in the lives of PRCA students each year?
I want them to see Christ's love for them and others.  In a world so broken with sin, I feel as though it is very important for students to also know that there is truth out there, even when the world tells you that people can define their own truth.  

What do you love most about Pusch Ridge Christian Academy?
The people! 

Why do you think Christian education is important for families to consider?
I really feel like the more you can expose your children to good, truth, and beauty, the better suited children are to go fight the good fight.  Also, parents may be the first teachers, but the more support they can receive from other adults, the better!  

What's one thing that makes PRCA unique?
Only ONE thing?? The thing that comes to mind right now is the fact that we really try to educate the whole person, not just the brain, but the heart and soul as well! 

What is something that most people don't know about you?
I have two siblings who are adopted.
