Q & A with Joy Bergendorff

 

I have had the privilege of teaching 5th grade for the past 11 years.

I was born and raised in Carmel, New York, a small town 60 miles north of New York City. Even after getting married I never lived more than 20 minutes from where I grew up until I moved to Tucson in 2002. Before moving here, I taught music and drama at a private Christian school for 7 years. After moving here, I went back to school and got my degree in Elementary Education.

My husband Adam and I will be married 36 years this October. We have 3 daughters, all of whom graduated from PRCA. Amy is 34 (graduated in 2005), Jessica is 31 (graduated in 2008), and Allison is 22 (graduated in 2017). Amy and Jessica are each married and we have 4 precious grandchildren!

I am the Children's Choir Director, Mega Sports Director, and board member at our church, Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene.

I want to be God's love and light to the students God has blessed me with.

The people I get to see and work with everyday! The students! The parents! We are a family!

Students need to know that God loves them and as they grow in Christ, they need to know what they believe and how to defend their faith.
