A Life Full of Adventure

by Macy Blackwell
Amanda Quinn always had the desire to help people. She graduated from Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in 2005. Life has been full of adventures since then.

When Amanda attended PRCA, it was a smaller school. Hence sports teams had to travel more, leaving her with fond memories of volleyball and track. The bus rides with her teammates were always a special time.

After high school, Amanda had big plans for college. In high school, she had the desire to either become a nurse or a teacher, stemming from her empathy and compassion for others. There was an appeal to helping others and making them comfortable. Furthermore, the prospect of being a teacher pointed her back to serving others at church in a Sunday School setting. With God-gifted mentors who inspired her along the way, Amanda chose to pursue a degree in education.

Amanda attended the University of Arizona and obtained her degree in Elementary Education. Looking back, she enjoyed a variety of classes, especially art and drama. Memorable classes such as Children’s Literature allowed her to volunteer at different schools for more experience. She loved staying active as well, enjoying college life, and balancing the fun with school.

Throughout all of this, Amanda placed her faith in God. College was a pivotal point. She grew up in a tight-knit church that she attended with her family. In high school, she remembers teachers emphasizing reading the Bible and having a personal faith. Since high school, she had grown in faith. Overall, it came from maturing more as an adult and bled into strengthening her faith. In college, she surrounded herself with others of similar beliefs and stayed rooted in Christ. Understanding grace better, Amanda hopes to dive into the richness of the Gospel more. Reflecting on this she stated, “It’s not about me, my faith is a gift from God and He will cause it to grow.” Such powerful words echo her humility and ultimate trust and devotion to God.

Not only is Amanda a devout godly woman, but she is wise. Whether you are going off to college or starting a new chapter of life, Amanda urges you to surround yourself with godly friends, holding each other accountable. She wants others to find the balance to successfully enjoy college and glorify God whilst doing so, encouraging  others to regularly attend church and be in God’s Word.

After college, Amanda taught at an elementary school called Family Life Academy for five years. Currently, she is a wonderful full-time mom, homeschooling her four kids, with another one on the way! Amanda Quinn continues to selflessly help others.
